Women Infants Children

Program seeks to improve the nutrition of eligible pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and young children during periods of critical growth. Program provides: Electronic benefit cards (eWIC) for specific foods that participants redeem at local grocery stores Nutrition education Referrals to other servicesFoods provided to women and children may include: Milk Eggs Cheese Whole grains Juice Fresh or frozen fruits Iron-fortified cereal and vegetables Dried or canned beans Peanut Butter or peas Canned fish Foods provided to infants may include: Special food packages for breastfeeding mothers AND/OR Iron-fortified infant formula Infant cereals Infant foods

Eligibility

Pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children under age five are eligible for Arkansas WIC if they:Live in Arkansas: No waiting period needed to meet residency requirement Meet income guidelines: be at 185% of FPL(please call for information or speak with your Community Resource Advisor). Recipients of Medicaid, ARKids First, TEA and/or SNAP (Food Stamps) may be automatically income eligible for WIC.Are nutritionally eligible: Assessment will be performed by a nurse, nutritionist, or physician at the local County Health Unit.
