Area Agency on Aging of Western Arkansas offers the elderly and disabled, as well as caregivers, many opportunities to learn about health and disease prevention in order to stay healthy and maximize their quality of life.A representative or trained nurse from the Area Agency schedules clinics in the Senior Centers, public venues, health fairs, and civic groups to perform the following services:Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs (CDSMP)Blood Pressure ClinicsPublic Speaking on subjects such as services offered by Area Agency and MedicareEducation on multiple topics, such as medication management, to assist in meeting your needsNutrition and Dietary educationFlu ClinicsChronic Disease Self-Management ProgramsThe Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is a community-based self-management education program designed to help participants gain confidence (self-efficiency) and skills to better manage their chronic conditions.Area Agency on Aging of Western Arkansas has two Master Trainers that teach a 2-hour class for 6 weeks at community level locations such as Senior Centers.
