Program offers training which focuses on the knowledge and skills an individual may need to live independently or make a successful transition to independent living. Participants are people who have previously been homeless. Training may address job search and retention, money management, insurance, taxes, rental agreements, vehicle purchase, nutrition, home management, health care and other similar topics.

Program serves young women from twelve to eighteen years of age. There are no restrictions regarding ethnicity, religion, income or geographic origin. Staff provides a safe home for up to 9 girls during their pregnancy, and for 6 months after their delivery.

Independent Futures that Work is designed to help in the successful transition of youth and young adults from high school into the next stage of adult life. "Transition" is used to describe the period when youth with disabilities (ages 14-26) begin to focus on their future adult life. IFTW will provide resources and trainings for youth with disabilities, their families, and professionals.IFTW is a project of the Alabama Parent Education Center in partnership with Parent Training and Information Centers from five other states including Arkansas.
