Individuals who are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires and responding to emergency situations where life, property and-or the environment are at risk. They are frequently the first emergency personnel at the scene of a traffic accident or medical emergency and may be called upon to put out a fire, treat injuries or perform other vital functions. They also rescue victims and provide emergency medical attention as needed, ventilate smoke-filled areas and attempt to salvage the contents of buildings. Duties may include fire prevention, emergency medical service, hazardous material response, search and rescue, and disaster management. They are also a safe haven for abandoned newborn babies.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program - (SFMNP)

(SFMNP) is a USDA funded program that provides low income seniors (60+) with coupons that can be exchanged for locally grown eligible foods (fruit, vegetables, honey, and fresh cut herbs) at participating farmer's markets and roadside stands. In Arkansas the SFMNP is available in nine counties of northwest Arkansas, as follows: Benton, Carroll, Boone, Marion, Baxter, Washington, Madison, Newton, and Searcy. To enroll in the SFMNP a person must be age 60 or older, live in one of the participating counties, and have an income level within 185% of the poverty level. The TEA program also provides assistance to children being cared for by non-parental guardians. Financial assistance is based on family size, income, resources and the ages of the children. Time-limited support is provided with a variety of supportive services while moving individuals back into the labor market.
